Eight Arrested Blocking Gate of Westover AFB

Chicopee, MA, March 17   Eight local peace activists, including Northampton Committee to Stop the War in Iraq founding members Claudia Lefko, Kathleen Winkworth, and Frances Crowe, staged a dramatic, high-profile protest at the gate of nearby Westover Air Force Base. Dressed in Middle Eastern clothing, they blocked the main gate of the Base until they were arrested for "disturbing the peace."
